Pimples (Acne Vulgaris)

Pimples (Acne Vulgaris)

Acne vulgaris or simply acne is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. Acne is characterized by areas of blackheads, pimples, and greasy skin, and may result in scarring. Acne occurs most commonly during adolescence, affecting an estimated 80–90% of teenagers in urban while lower rates are reported in rural societies. Acne has been reported to be 8th most common disease worldwide. During puberty, in both sexes, acne is often brought on by an increase in sex hormones. Genetics is thought to be the cause in 80% of cases. As such acne is not serious disease but it affects look & appearance of the patient badly. It can lead to anxiety, reduced self-esteem while in extreme cases, depression & social detachments.

There is no straightway simple treatment for acne but combination of medication, lifestyle modification, diet correction & moral support can lead to up to the mark treatment.
